From Auckland International (AKL) to Malaga Airport (AGP), Malaga, your travel time will be about 31h 40min. If you are travelling from Christchurch (CHC), plan on a travel time of about 35h 20min, and if you are leaving from Wellington (WLG), trip time should be about 34h.
Although it can seem a little bit disappointing to find out that there are no direct flights to Malaga from any airports in New Zealand, that does not mean there are not some great Malaga flight deals you can find to help you make this trip. From Wellington, there is a three-stop flight that has layovers at Christchurch, Singapore Changi (SIN) and Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG). If you leave from Christchurch, there is a two-stop flight with layovers at Singapore Changi and Zurich (ZUR). If your travel will start at Auckland International, there is a two-stop flight that has layovers at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Frankfurt am Main (FRA).
Even though the trip from the airport to the centre of the city is a relatively short one, that does not mean that there are not several different transportation options to help you make this journey. You can board a bus provided by Avanza Grupo and be in the centre of town in about 20min for a cost of roughly € 2.50 (NZ$ 4.30). Another option is to take a taxi, which can make the journey in about 11min for a fare of around € 30 (NZ$ 50). You could also choose to take an airport shuttle provided by TerraVision ES, which makes the trip in about 10min for a cost of around € 9 (NZ$ 15).
Malaga is the birthplace of Pablo Picasso, and this city has a museum dedicated to his work. One iconic landmark that you'll be sure to want to visit here is Roman Theater, a large sampling of remnants from the Roman era that you can tour on your own, or you can join a guided tour to learn more about the site. A great spot to visit for the entire family on a trip here is Aqualand Torremolinos; it offers plenty of pools and slides for the whole family to enjoy for an afternoon. If exploring the adventure of a theme park is more your thing, then why not make the trip to Tivoli World. It represents a classic-style theme park with several rides reminiscent of a county fair.
To visit Spain from New Zealand, travellers must have a valid passport. If you are travelling as a tourist and you do not plan on staying in Spain for more than 90 days, you will not need a visa. You will, however, need an ETIAS authorisation, which you can obtain online from the ETIAS site for a cost of about € 7 (NZ$ 11.50) before travel.
