You can find flights to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS) from several New Zealand airports. You can fly from Auckland International Airport (AKL) to Amsterdam, the Netherlands, with the shorter journey times around 27h. There are also Amsterdam flight deals at roughly 30h, 40h and 48h, with the longer routes at about 56h 20min. You can also find flights to Amsterdam from Christchurch Airport (CHC), with flight times ranging from 29h-54h, with the quicker flights at roughly 29h 45min and the longer journeys at about 53h 45min.
Unfortunately, direct flights from New Zealand to Amsterdam are not available; however, you can find several routes with one, two or three layovers. Auckland International Airport offers routes with two layovers to Schiphol Airport, with one at Kuala Lumpur Airport (KUL) and another in Dubai Airport (DXB), with a total journey time of about 30h. You can find both bus and train services, which run from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, Amsterdam, to the city centre, that are fast and affordable. Dutch Railways (NS) will take you to Amsterdam’s central station in around 15min at an approximate fare of € 6 (NZ$ 10); trains run every 20min or so. Alternatively, the Connexxion bus service 397 will drop you in Museumplein usually in just under 30min with a fare of about € 3 (NZ$ 5); buses depart every 15min or so. You can also find rideshare services available from this airport, which work out cheap at around € 4 (NZ$ 7).
The city of Amsterdam is well known for its artworks and museums, and you can spend time exploring Museumplein to view works of Vincent Van Gogh, or visit Rembrandt, Stedelijk or Rijksmuseum Museum, amongst others. Alternatively, you can explore the network of canals and bridges of Old Town, visit the infamous Red Light District or see one of the many lively areas of Dam Square or Leidseplein, which is Amsterdam’s nightlife and street entertainment hub.

However, an electronic travel authorisation (ETIAS) is needed for all travellers, which can be applied for online with a valid biometric passport, and it will last for five years. The process is quick and can be completed within a matter of minutes, costing around € 7 (NZ$ 12).
