The Dallas flight deals available will take at least 19h, depending on what city you are travelling from. Flights from Auckland can take anywhere from around 19h 25min to almost 73h. From Christchurch, your flight options can range from about 22h to 73h 25min, and from Wellington, the trip ranges from almost 22h to 72h 35min. The travel times depend on how many stops and how long your layovers take as you fly to either Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) or Dallas Love Field Airport (DAL).
Unfortunately, nonstop flights from New Zealand to Dallas are currently not available. From Auckland, there are one-stop routes that take you through Los Angeles to DAL, or you could fly through Dubai or Incheon to DFW. If you are leaving from Christchurch, you would need to make at least two stops. Either you could go through Auckland and Los Angeles to DAL or through Singapore and Frankfurt to DFW. Travelling from Wellington also requires two or more stops with similar options to those from Christchurch.
From Dallas Love Field Airport, Dallas, you can take the Dallas Area Rapid Transit 524 Bus, which runs every 15min, to the Inwood/Love Field station where you can catch the Green or Orange trains or the 39 Bus to central Dallas. Taxis and ride-shares such as Uber are available as well and take around 20min. From Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, Dallas, the DART Orange train runs every 20min to the Dallas city centre. Taxis and ride-sharing services are also available here, and the trip to the city centre takes about 30min.
Dallas has plenty for everyone to enjoy, full of cultural, historical, and entertaining experiences. The McKinney Avenue Trolley is an old-fashioned way to travel through the trendy Arts District, while Klyde Warren Park invites visitors to its many sports activities and food trucks. Museum-lovers can stop by the Sixth Floor Museum to learn about John F. Kennedy or step back in time at the Dallas Heritage Village. Shoppers should stop by America’s first outdoor mall at Highland Park Village or spend time browsing at NorthPark Centre’s 200-plus stores. If you are in Dallas from late September to mid-October, you should try to visit the Texas State Fair for a traditional American fair with rides, food, games, and live entertainment. Or for visits during the spring, there’s the Dallas Blooms festival, with over 500,000 flowers showing off their colours.
As long as the visit is for less than 90 days, New Zealand citizens do not need a visa to travel to Dallas, USA, under the Visa Waiver Programme (VWP). To qualify for the VWP, you must have a machine-readable passport and register with the Electronic System for Travel Authorisation (ESTA), which costs around $ 14 (NZ$ 20.35). You can often get a response seconds after applying, but it is recommended to get your ESTA 72 hours before your flight. If you do not have a machine-readable passport, then you must apply for a US entry visa, which can take five to seven days to process.
