The original booking took me to a location that was closed and no one was there so I had to spend another $30 on uber to go to the airport to get the hertz there and rebook the car which was also more expensive. Dropoff was a bit confusing as I was in a more remote location and the drop box was hard to find.

Price quoted was without any insurance, so cost a big chunk of holiday funds and car was a 4 year old with loads of damage. An awful experience will not use Kayak or Hertz again, very disappointed with Hertz I went with them because I thought they were a big reputable company, obviously not.

Went to pick up my already arranged vehicle and was told I needed a major credit card or a credit check. I didnt pass the 750 credit check so I couldn't rent the car I reserved. I was never told that when booking at all. The counter person was rude telling me to work on my credit for next time. There will never be a next time ever.

Booked a rideshare to get from my hotel to the rental office, when I arrived I was told that they canceled my reservation because they do not have any cars available. I told them that a phone call or email would have been nice before I paid for a ride to come here, and the agent pointed at another customer and said “well, he’s been here waiting on a car since 8:00 AM” … I’m not sure what point he was trying to make, but this rental center has very poor customer service.

At my pick up at the Ft. Lauderdale airport, they did not have my premium SUV available and told me they were upgrading me to a mini van for $20 a day. No one upgrades to a mini van and has to pay for it. Why did I have to get charged $20 a day for a be chile I did not reserve. I should have been compensated for having to take a mini van. I will not rent from budget again. I did not like the experience.

I was confirmed in a compact vehicle. I was given a pick up truck due to lack of type of vehicle I was confirmed for. This resulted in a much higher price for the fill-up necessary to avoid a very costly price that I would’ve had to pay if returned not full. Furthermore, nowhere on the confirmation was I informed a debit card wouldn’t be accepted. I do not own a credit card, so I was forced to borrow my relatives and then incurred an extra fee because it wasn’t my card and I had to be added as an “extra driver”. This resulted in an additional $15. So, an initial cost of around $53 ended costing MUCH more due to your lack of communication/information. Most likely this will be the last time I rent from Budget. On a brighter note, the young man that assisted me was very friendly and kind.

I called them to change the drop of location to a nearby airport and they told me that there will be an additional $350 fee for that. It ruined my last day of vacation. I could expect them to have some sort of a fee for this change but not that high

The rental listing was a bait and switch and the counter employees didn’t have a strong grasp of policies or options. They pushed hard for me to upgrade from the managers choice which was apparently electric to a gas car. I was fine with electric but they warned me that it had to be brought they back at 95% charged or I would receive a fee, and that charging would take many hours. Not sure that is actually the case as several things they said were inconsistent. In the end, I was pressured into the upsell, which is never a good feeling. High pressure sales stink.

There were no cars available at all despite the fact that we reserved and paid for a car. There was a long line of very cranky customers ahead of us in the same situation. Lucky our money was refunded. Sadly we were not able to get another car that time of night.

Our experience with Alamo was exceptional. We walked in and did not have to wait had an associate help us right away and had our car within minutes after completing the check in process. We also were given two brand new car seats. Would definitely use them again!

They did not have a car available for our reservation, sent us to another Avis, which also didn’t have anything. Ended up having to go to Sixt. However, the initial man who helped us was trying to be as helpful as possible and get us a deal with the other Avis, although in the end none of the Avis’ had anything, but I appreciate the thought/effort.

Collection at the airport was terrible. There was a long line and it took us over 45 minutes to collect our car. There were only 4 people working on the desks and it took at least 15 minutes per customer for no obvious reason at all - lots of standing around waiting while they called down for the car. Not what you want after a long flight. Enterprise stand in contrast had no wait! The car itself was great - nearly new, great condition and a hybrid so very economical. Return drop off was simple

After booking the car online with Avis, the agency refused the rental because I had a debit card with a credit score "too low" for them (while I'm a foreigner), they didn't help me find a solution. I had to go to another agency a little further away which helped me much better and found a car for me immediately for a good price. I'll never rent from Avis again.

I did not end up renting a car from Payless. My initial reservation was incorrectly recorded by the Kayak web page and I called and cancelled my reservation and did not go through Kayak. Additionally, it seemed like Payless was the only car company that Kayak offered in florida during the time period I was looking. I thought that was strange. I ended up going through Costco to reserve a car with Budget. It was about the same cost as Kayak/Payless but the web interface and customer service experience was better and simpler. Kayak just feels like an extra layer of headache added to an already tedious and complicated process.

We were promised a 15 passenger van but they didn’t have one. They were able to give us two vans but it complicated the trip to have to split up the group. Not sure how you can reserve a car and they just not have it.
