Popular choices among Cheapflights users include Air New Zealand and Malaysia Airlines, with 49% and 23% of one-way bookings, respectively. However, keep in mind that some destinations with strict visa requirements may require proof of onward travel. While your airline may sell one-way tickets, it’s worth checking if your destination requires additional documentation, particularly for international trips.

According to Cheapflights data, some of the best deals for one-way domestic flights in the past two weeks were Christchurch to Wellington at $42; Wellington to Christchurch at $43; and Auckland to Wellington at $46.

You can score cheap one-way tickets to international destinations too. Recent Cheapflights data highlights some incredible deals, like Wellington to Coolangatta for $120; Auckland to Maroochydore for $134; and Christchurch to Coolangatta for $137.
