Horrible lots of hiding fees

When booking directly with Mexcar, they include the mandatory third party insurance with their rentals. I didn’t realize the rental coverage wasn’t included with this booking so was forced to pay for insurance onsite which added $300 USD for basic liability or $400 for full coverage. Very frustrating to be charged so much for insurance when the rental was only $80 for the whole week. I’ve rented from them a couple times in the past and like the convenience of their onsite location at the airport. Staff had been courteous and friendly.

Waited in line for 2 hours at the Mex desk in the airport. Only 3 people were in line and it took 2 hours. Finally got the paperwork and waited in another line outside to get the keys. MexRentacar said the kayak/Travelocity fee I paid ($120) had nothing to do with what I owed them and I then paid an additional $100 hold plus over $330.

Terrible car rental, it wasn’t specified I needed to pay an extra 500 USD to get insurance or pay 3500 USD deposit uninsured.

First and foremost, there was a $1400 deposit which caught me by surprise. While I understand the necessity of a deposit, such a hefty amount was not communicated upfront, leaving me feeling financially blindsided. Additionally, what added insult to injury were the numerous hidden fees that surfaced during the rental process. From insurance surcharges to additional gas costs, it felt like I was constantly being nickel-and-dimed without any prior warning. It's disheartening when a company fails to be transparent about the total cost of their services, as it erodes trust and leaves customers feeling deceived. Overall, my experience with Euro Car Rental left much to be desired. While the car itself was fine, the lack of upfront disclosure regarding fees and the hefty deposit requirement tarnished what could have been a positive rental experience. I would caution others to thoroughly scrutinize the fine print before committing to a rental with Euro Car Rental to avoid similar disappointment especially when booking through Expedia.
