When is the Best Time to Fly to Mahon?

Peak season when the weather is around 28 degrees is the best time to visit Mahon.  The city is more lively from the end of June to the beginning of September which coincides with school holidays.  Watch Menorca's local fiestas like the Festes de Gracia that take place almost every weekend in the summer months.  Off-peak season during November through to the middle of April is the best time to find cheap accommodation and cheap flights to Mahon.  There are less holidaymakers around and the weather is a lot cooler.

Find a cheap flight to Mahon and see the beautiful city on the Spanish Balearic island of Menorca is an exciting holiday destination.  The quaint old town was built on cliffs near to the harbour's southern shore providing a bird's eye view of the Mediterranean Sea.  It's also a city with exquisite 18th century Georgian style architecture which is a common feature in many of the island's other cities and villages such as Fornells, Saint Lluis, Es Castell and Es Migjorn Gran. 

Whether arriving in Menorca's capital Mahon by ferry, minibus or car, you won't fail to notice the city's lively bars, restaurants and cafes. Enjoy shopping in the many stylish boutiques or head for the outdoor market where you can buy clothing, footwear and jewellery.  Have a walk into the old town which has wonderful authentic delicatessens and traditional cafes, a great place to relax while watching the world go by. 

Jump on the Mao Express for a 50 minute trip around the city so you can see the many attractions. Have your camera at the ready to take snapshots of the Fortress of Isabel II, Military Museum and the Island of El Lazareto in Mahon harbour.  For something a little different, why not visit the Xoriguer Gin Distillery?  Try a few different regular and flavoured gins that are produced here, then purchase a bottle or two from the factory shop.

Getting around Mahon

Getting around Mahon or to the nearby city of Ciutadella is relatively cheap to do by local bus. How about hiring a motorbike which is ideal to visit the multitude of nearby beaches or a pedal bike if you wish to see the glorious countryside? The city centre can be explored on foot too.

Getting from the Airport to the City

Flights to Mahon land at Mahon International Airport is located approximately 3 miles (4.8 km) south west of the city.  You can travel into the city by bus which has a direct link from the airport to the bus station in town.  Buses run from outside the airport terminal building every 30 minutes. Tickets are a much cheaper option than taxi or car hire.  If you do require a taxi or hire car, both are available in front of the terminal main building arrivals hall.
